Our mission

Thomas RECORDING was founded in 1989 by Mr. Uwe Thomas as a spin-off from the neurophysics research group at Philipps-University of Marburg, Germany.

The company is located in Middle Hesse in the heart of Germany, a region known for its strong tradition in medical technology and biotechnology. For example this region has a distinguished history in scientific research, with two of the first Nobel Prizes in medicine and physics awarded to researchers working at Universities in this area: Emil von Behring, awarded the first Nobel Prize in Medicine in 1901 for his work on serum therapy and later founded the company Behringwerke in Marburg and Conrad Wilhelm Roentgen awarded the first Nobel Prize in Physics in 1901 for his discovery of X-rays.

Our company operates globally with a well-balanced and diversified portfolio. Thomas RECORDING holds leading positions with its three business units neurophysiological, electrochemical and medical division in both industrial and research businesses thanks to strong brands, innovations and technologies.

We sell our products worldwide directly to our customers in universities and research facilities such as Max Planck Institutes, Caltech, MIT, etc. The product portfolio includes microelectrodes, MEAs, electrode microdrives, eye tracking systems, animal training systems, stereotaxic instruments and many more.

Our mission is to improve scientists research work by meaningful innovations. We have received several innovation awards expressing our innovation competence.
